Pool Leak Detection & Repairs
Find the source before choosing a repair
A falling water level can come from evaporation, a leaking pipe, a damaged fitting or a problem with the pool surface. The right repair starts with separating these causes. Replacing equipment or relining the pool without a diagnosis can leave the original leak unresolved.
Pools For Life combines more than 15 years of experience with electronic detection, pressure testing and dye testing where appropriate. Our in-house team explains the findings, the access needed and the proposed repairs before work starts.
- Compare water loss with evaporation
- Inspect the pump, filter, valves and visible fittings
- Pressure-test individual plumbing lines where needed
- Use electronic and dye testing as appropriate
- Investigate skimmers, returns and light fittings
- Quote for pipe, fitting or shell repairs
- Recheck water loss after the agreed repair
5-year workmanship guarantee. The written quotation confirms the covered work, conditions and exclusions. Equipment and product warranties are confirmed separately.

Do You Have a Leak?
When to book a pool leak investigation
Repeated top-ups
A water level that falls faster than a comparison bucket warrants investigation. Wind, covers and heating all affect evaporation.
Wet ground or moving paving
Persistent damp patches or a changing pool surround can indicate underground water loss. Other drainage faults can cause similar symptoms.
Air in the circulation system
Bubbles or lost pump prime can point to suction-side air entry, low water or a loose fitting. Testing helps distinguish the cause.
Water loss changes with the pump
Tell us whether the level drops faster during circulation. This helps plan the tests; it does not identify the leak by itself.
Water settles at the same level
A repeat stopping level can help narrow down suspect fittings or shell defects. Keep a record and avoid draining the pool yourself.
Tell us what you have noticed
Send your suburb and a few photos. We will discuss the next step and arrange a free site visit.

How our pool leak detection works
1. Record and inspect
We discuss top-up frequency, pump operation and previous repairs, then inspect the pool and visible equipment.
2. Test the suspected source
We choose suitable tests for the shell, fittings and individual pipe runs. The method depends on the pool and site access.
3. Quote, repair and recheck
We explain the findings and quote the repair separately. Agreed work is completed by our team and checked afterwards.
